Asia Public Policy Forum 2013; Rajawali Foundation Supports Public Policy

May 29th 2013, JAKARTA – Rajawali Foundation through Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia (RFIA) is organizing a 3 days event of Asia Public Policy Forum 2013, conducted from May 28th to May 30th 2013 in Four Seasons Hotel, Jakarta.
This academic forum attended by more than 100 participants from around Indonesia and other countries, was initially held to assemble public policy makers, scholars, and social representatives to enable them to discuss public policies, particularly the policy which is related to regional issues in Asia including; poverty, gender equality, and social protection.
With support from AusAID, National Team for Accelerating Poverty Reduction (TNP2K), and Harvard University Asia Center, the organizer decided to choose the theme of “Poverty, Inequality and Social Protection” for this event.
Agung Binantoro, Director of Rajawali Foundation, explained the main objective of establishing the Asia Public Policy Forum is to enable public policy makers in Asia Regions to interact and to communicate with one and another, in strengthening policy networks.
“The forum will discuss issues on poverty eradication, gender equality, and social protection in their respective countries,” said Agung in Jakarta, on Wednesday May 29th.
We are expecting, he continued, policy makers shall be able to share experiences in making the policy formula, in how they implement their program, and in the way they examine the policies they have made with other fellows in the forum to generate feedbacks.
“Feedbacks generated from this forum shall escalate and improve the existing public policies. Thus, progressively able to overcome the poverty, the gender inequality, and the social protection issues,” Agung added.
The output of this forum will be a recommendation to be shared to the government officials or public policy makers in Asia Region. Especially in Indonesia, the result will be submitted to TNP2K, which is an independent institution under the auspicess of Vice-president of Indonesia.
“Furthermore, the formulation will be executed by related ministries, including State Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) in coordination with TNP2K. TNP2K together with other social representatives and international organizations will also monitor the implementation of this formula recommendation.” ended Agung.
